I finished my X-Men fan art painting. Hope you all like! Now I must return to the kitchen and finish making dinner lol. I'm making a Christmas post roast for my mom n dad. Probably not a good idea to be drawing and cooking at the same time lol.
I love the honesty in this painting. In most cases Beast is treated as anything but a monster, yet your piece exemplifies his ferocity. The massive claws, the wide-open jaws... superb. And Wolverine's outfit: yellow spandex with blue trim, and a wing-tipped mask. Something that simply doesn't look good in real-life. However you've definitely done it a service. I can see the change in texture between the black wings and the actual mask, and the composition actually works. The same applies to the shoulder pads; they seem to validate the outfit. And opposing Beast and Wolverine are Cyclops and Iceman. They look so frail and simple next to the two powerhouses. Though even just Cyke's hand-gesture speaks of his analytic nature. And Storm and Iceman, who are normally given the grand position of covering the entire background, are relegated to smaller poses. Storm's lightning isn't overplayed, an the wind and rain make her powers very subtle; something most artists never dare attempt. But it works very well The setting is great too. An inky-black miasma representing the dark world they live in, that spawned them. And the tower in the background; the representation of the society that hates and fears them, towering over them. My only real criticisms are that this really does seem to be Wolverine and Beast's painting, being so much better defined than the other three. Also, Storm never wore the blue-yellow uniform, but it works nonetheless.
